As you may have already heard, LucasArts just announced that they will be developing a sequel to Sam & Max. This is either good news or bad news, depending on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist.

For one thing it will almost definitely be 3D, which is unfortunate. I don't think there's one person in the entire world who preferred Escape from Monkey Island's 3D graphics to the Curse of Monkey Island's beautifully animated 2D graphics.

Also there's the troublesome fact that it might not even be a pure adventure game. The part in the press release that really has me concerned is where it says that the game will be "jam packed with nerve-jangling action."

And of course it's doubtful that they'll have much of the original devepment team left to make the game.

Anyway, obviously this is all just speculation. I'm still really looking forward to it and hoping for the best. Who knows, if this sells well (and if the new Full Throttle game sells well) it could mean a sequel to DOTT. One can only dream...
